Finnegan’s Lake

For the last decade, California has been a leader in the US for the environmental movement. It should come as no surprise then that when Sherbrooke Cellars decided to branch out into this region we chose to pair with winemakers whose environmental consciousness is as important to them as their vines. The philosophy behind the Finnegan’s Lake wines is to make an everyday Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon that are fresh, lively, and complex while at the same time bringing to the market wines that are keeping with the environmental sustainability of the community in which they are grown. For this reason, we have partnered with two independent wine makers who have been growing and crafting wines in Sonoma County for over 20 years. Both realize the importance of preserving and replenishing the soil on which their vines grow as well as maintaining a clear focus on recycling and reducing emissions to keep the air in their communities as clean as possible for years to come. For them, winemaking is not a two or three year journey, but a lifelong pursuit. They want to see their wines reflect strong fruit and vines, a strength that comes from exposure to the cleanest air and aquifers possible. This in turn will help guarantee that Finnegan’s Lake will continue to be the pure example of fresh, vibrant, California fruit that it is today.

Fin Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Fin Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Fruit for this juicy cabernet originates in the Lodi area. Lodi is characterized by its warm dry summer days, cool breezy nights, and sandy soils. These conditions optimize the fruit characteristics without compromising a sturdy backbone of tannins and fresh acidity.

Fin Chardonnay 2007

Fin Chardonnay 2007

This delicious Chardonnay combines the clean, crisp style of French Chardonnays – particularly those in the Macon region – with the depth and breadth of fruit that can only be found in California. The wine is a blend of 75% tank fermented Chardonnay from Lodi made in a bright crisp style, with 25% of slightly richer, broader-shouldered, barrel-fermented wine from Monterey. Together, they make for a winning blend! Clean, round, fresh and apple-scented, this wine is the perfect aperitif, or with fish, chicken or lighter pasta dishes.

Fin Pinot Noir 2008

Fin Pinot Noir 2008

There’s a lot of cheap Pinot flooding the market to try and keep up with demand in the post-“Sideways” wine world. Unfortunately, most of it is not that interesting. We sourced this Pinot from two of California’s foremost growing regions for this fickle grape, Carneros and Arroyo Grande. The wine was aged in oak, mostly French, for 9 months prior to bottling. There is lovely cherry, spice and earth notes, and a lot more weight and presence than is usually found in Pinot’s of this caliber. Perfect for drinking tonight!
