Our house wines reflect our philosophy that good wines demonstrate purity of fruit, clean flavors and the characteristics of the land from which they come. When we set out to find wines that would be worthy of our own label, we looked to the Botter family in the Veneto. The Botter family has not only been making their own wines but they have been wine merchants themselves for four decades, collaborating with other quality-driven winemaking families in their network to distribute the wines of Italy throughout the boot and, recently, the world. Luca Botter’s great-grandfather started out selling his Pinot Grigio and Prosecco in the Veneto, often transporting his goods by barge on the canals that once functioned as highways throughout the flatlands of the Po River valley basin. Today, they continue to produce and sell those same varietals, blending the product of their own vineyards with grapes carefully sourced from some of the same families with whom they have worked for years. The Pinot Grigio is aromatic and refreshing, featuring solid acidity and underlying minerality, while the Prosecco, the Veneto’s calling card wine, is fresh and clean, with notes of pear and white flowers and robust effervescence.
