Located in Cruscades, closed to Lezignan-Corbières within the Boutenac terroir in Corbières, this family estate boasts an amazing story dating back to 1639. Its name comes from the fact that it borders on the “Veredus” (meaning messenger horse in Latin) a Roman road that used to link the city of Narbonne to the Atlantic. The estate was bravely managed for 30 years by Irma Coulon, who took it over as a young widow and steered the estate through the terrible oidium and phyloxera disaster at the end of the nineteenth century. Since 1982, it has been run by agronomist and enologist Louis FABRE, Irma Coulon’s great-grandson, who has steadfastly maintained the family’s cultural traditions. The grounds at Château Veredus have never seen herbicides or synthetic anti-fungals. Their wines are organically certified and have been monitored by ECOCERT since 1992.

Wines

Corbières Rouge 2007

An enticing blend of hand-harvested 50% Carignan from 70-year-old vines, 30% Grenache, and 10% Mourvedre, aged 12 months in oak barrels. Its exotic aromatic complexity features notes of black olive and garrigues, fresh blackcurrant, black cherries and hints of soft pepper. Juicy, fresh and slightly spicy on the palate, it finishes with hints of thyme and roasted meats. Luscious and savoury.
