Winery
Pöckl has achieved many recognitions and awards which confirms the high quality of their wines, which are characterized by intense fruit, elegance but also strong tannins to ensure longevity. These typical attributes are René Pöckl’s fingerprint, who now leads the winery in the fourth generation and who has been cellar master since 2002.
Longevity is an important topic at Weingut Pöckl. Pöckl’s top wines reach their first drinkability after five to six years only and are best to drink after 10 years. Nevertheless, even after 10 years they still develop further. A recent tasting of all 20 vintages of Admiral confirmed that Pöckl wines are highly suitable for long storage.Pöckl’s ‘Classique’ wines, responds to the need for wines that are accessible earlier.
Pöckl is convinced that their regional prerequisites, like climate and soils, are ideal for their ventures. The vineyard sites are all located around Mönchhof and on the slopes of the Parndorf Plain. Named Kaiserberg, Rappühl, Pohnbühl, Langberg, Wiesacker and Herrenjoch, they are all planted with vines matching the soil status.
Pöckl works with nature and the Pannonian climate and always try to keep the balance between beneficial organisms and pest. We treat our vineyards gently and all our processes are optimized to avoid loss of valuable ressources, for example precious drinking water.
